blog hop winner // around here.

I'm a whole lotta late in posting my winner for the Mini Album Blog Hop.  Thanks so much to everyone that visited, left comments on my blog, and visited the other girls' blogs as well.  It was such a fun hop and I definitely want to do one again in the future.  The winner of the Hop {randomly chosen} is Nicola Mansfield!  Nicola, I sent you a private message for your mailing info.

So, it's mid-August!  Holy heck, how did that happen?!  This summer has been absolutely crazy for us.  We knew waaaaayy back before the warm weather even rolled in that it was going to be crazy for us this summer, but of course with life, there are always things unexpected to shake things up a bit.  This next weekend coming up, we will be attending wedding 4 of 5!  Last weekend, I attended bridal shower #4!  On top of our crazy wedding season, hubby and I have also been going through a personal experience that is totally new, unexpected, and stressful for us.  I'm not quite ready to share publicly what has been going on with us, but our close family and friends have been very supporting for us.  At some point in the future, I will be opening up a bit here on my blog.  With everything we've had going on (including a surgery for our doggie, Cocoa), it has hardly left any time for crafting.  It works out that I haven't felt too inspired much lately anyways, but I'm starting to miss crafting and hope to get back to a steady stream of creative time fairly soon.

This week, I will be playing along with Week in the Life and I know this will be mega-inspiration for creating, since I thoroughly enjoyed Day in the Life.  I've been brushing up on my photo-taking skills with my Nikon.  This week, I learned how to change the f-stop and aperture settings on my Nikon.  Below are a few of the photos I took.  None of the photos were edited with the exception of a little cropping.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  Even though the kiddos are going back to school (and some are already back.  Eek!), the hot temps linger in the Midwest well into September.  Hubby and I are trying to take advantage of the good weather while it's around by enjoying things that were on our summer wishlist (swimming, fishing, barbequing, etc.).  The simple things that make us happy!
