Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop : building kits using your stash!

Friday, May 29, 2015

Hello dearies!  First things first.  If you're hopping along, you should have arrived here from Katrina's blog.  If this is your first stop and you want to check out all the pretty projects, the full hop list is at the bottom of this post.
It's been a few months since I've participated in the Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop!  I missed it tons, so I'm super duper excited that I had time to play along this month.  One of my favorite processes is to build "kits" using my stash.  This is such an awesome way to use up your stash and re-discover things you forgot about!

Products (from top left to bottom right): paper: Simple Stories, Crate Paper, October Afternoon, American Crafts, Maggie Holmes; journaling cards: Project Life; calendars: Elle's Studio; die cuts and letter stickers: American Crafts; other: washi tape, sequins, arrows
One of my goals for a while now has been to participate in a challenge from Scrapbooking From The Inside Out.  I really love their concept and love that the challenges make you do some "soul searching" and dig deep.  I need that!  This month's theme was "In The Moment" and it was perfect for me and where I am in my life right now.  I built the kit above inspired by their In The Moment kit.

And here's what I used from the kit I built!  I am a HUGE FAN of pocket pages!  And, even more of a fan of pocket pages that are not Project Life spreads.  I like to treat every pocket like it is its own page, kind of like a mini album.  This layout has a 4x4 pockets page (left side) and a 6x6 pockets page (right side).

You can use so many little products with pocket pages, and that's another reason why I love them!  The "May" calendar is actually from 2013.  I've been holding onto it for a while, and honestly NEVER thought I would use it, but I did!  I cut the bottom off that had the year.  Seriously, WHO is going to remember that those weren't actually the right weekdays for May 2015?  NOT ME!

There was sooooo much journaling I wanted to include in this spread.  I literally wrote a book!  In order to have enough room, I accordion-folded paper to fit into the 4x4 pockets.  I was able to put my story on the top and bottom and all of my journaling fit on my layout, which I love.  I never want to sacrifice story because it "doesn't fit."

So there you have it!  Next up is Brenda's blog.  Here's the full hop list if you need it:
