Pocket Pages using Teresa Collins and We R Memory Keepers Albums Made Easy

Thursday, May 08, 2014

I am so excited to be sharing with you some pocket pages I created for the Teresa Collins Albums Made Easy design team call!  Just a little history for ya: I fell in love with Teresa Collins Designs when I first purchased her He Said, She Said collection (to create a very mini album for my hubby).  Since then, Teresa Collins has easily grown to become my favorite designer and collections to scrapbook with.

Today I am sharing four pocket pages created using the Hello Life and Snapshots collections from Teresa Collins and We R Memory Keepers.  I have also used other Teresa Collins collections, including He Said, She Said, Memorabilia, Summer Stories, Daily Stories, and Save the Date.  Mostly all of the product used on the pages are Teresa Collins Designs unless otherwise noted.  I have been working so hard on these the last few weeks and I am super super excited to finally be able to share these with you!

This page is about my brother.  He is one of my best friends and I am so proud of the young man he has grown into!  He is recently engaged so I had to include a few photos of his gorgeous fiance!  (Seriously, aren't they the cutest together?)  The top middle is probably my favorite photo of him, from when he was home for Christmas from boot camp.  The bottom right photo was when he was returning back to his Army base after Christmas break.  It was one of my first captures of him in his uniform.  It still makes me tear up!

I really love how this page turned out!  This is the first page I created and had lots of fun playing around with different techniques.  On the top right, I created a tabbed file folder (from the TC Summer Stories collection) that I traced onto a TC Daily Stories patterned paper.  I then cut a border strip out for the tab and rounded the edges.  There are two cards layered on top of the file folder: one of the TC Albums Made Easy journaling cards and one of the die cut cards.  I stamped the man and woman onto another card, cut it out, applied glitter (from my local dollar store), and adhered it to the layered cards.

There is a stitched pocket on each page because I really can't get enough of stitching and the TC sequins.  What I love the most about her sequins is that you get so many in ONE PACKAGE!  The package I used througout the pages is from the Save the Date collection and contains 800 sequins!  For this pocket, I used a TC Albums Made Easy transparency card, tossed in a handful of sequins, and before stitching it closed, added some journaling strips I cut from another journaling card.  The journaling in the pocket is a quote from Pinterest.  I am always pinning quotes and "words of wisdom."  They are great to use if you can't find the right words yourself.

I love lots of layering on my pages.  And really, just because you are using pocket pages doesn't mean you can't have lots of layers.  I like to embellish on the outside of the page protectors because it doesn't make the pocket bulky and it looks so pretty!  Here I handcut a flag from another Albums Made Easy card, added a die cut from the TC Memorabilia collection, and adhered two sequins on top.

Oh this guy!  Sometimes words cannot even begin to express how much I love him!  He makes my everydays so much better and always knows the right things to say to make me smile.  The photos I included on this page are three of my most favorite photos of us.  AND in only two of them am I standing on a step stool!  haha!  (In case you didn't know, me and my hubby are 14 inches apart in height).

One of the reasons why I love the stitched pockets is because they look so pretty on both the front and back of the pages!  I chose not to decorate the back of the journaling strips and instead let the pretty striped pattern show.  I added a brad from the TC Memorabilia collection to hide the thread ends.

The Albums Made Easy cards not only come with journaling cards, transparencies, and die cut cards.  Some of the cards had these cute little cameras!  I couldn't resist fussy-cutting one out, adding glitter to the edges, and popping it up under the page protector.  I added bling on the outside of the page protector (from the TC Save the Date collection).  These things are absolute beauties and they remind me of diamonds!!

Ohmygosh the modeling paste from the TC Basic Essentials line is AMAZING!  I have never used modeling paste before but I absolutely LOVE IT!  I want to put it on everything!  For two of the cards on this page, I used the modeling paste with two different TC stencils.  (Another amazing buy: you get THREE STENCILS in one package!  It's a steal!).  I used the little heart stencil on a journaling card and used a larger heart stencil on another journaling card.  I love how simple yet pretty these are.  And they add some texture to my pages!

I definitely wanted to have a sort of "every day/this is me/the little things" page.  While I am not (currently) a scrapbook-every-single-day type of person, I do enjoy my every day moments.  They really are what make up my life.  The photos on this page are just photos I snapped at random: my favorite dress (and the sunburst in that photo is 100% natural!), me before heading into work and wandering around on my lunch hour (I love to this do this!).  I also included a photo I took of my Grandma's plum tree in her backyard.  This was taken several years ago, but reminds me of her every time  I look it.  It is a photo that means alot to me!

The TC clear stamp sets are really nice and added the perfect little touches to my pages.  For this page, I used three different stamps, but they are all from the TC Daily Stories collection.  They all stamped so crisp and clear.  My favorite is the top photo above, the flower.  I wanted to use a flower because I had flowers in two of my photos on this page and it reminded me of my Grandma.  The arrow stamp (of course) is AMAZING because I love arrows!  And I loved the "You are here" stamp because not only can you use it for your location (like I did above), but also to symbolize where you are in life.  For me, it is also a reminder to keep myself focused on the present and what is currently going on in my life.

I love that with the TC collections, there are so many different little embellishments you can use!  I added a "Photo" sticker and bling from the TC Save the Date collection for the photo of my Grandma's plum tree.  And for the large stitched pocket, I added some layered embellishing: a pennant strip I hand-cut from one of the journaling cards, a strip of the heart border (which I punched a heart into using my Fiskars tiny heart punch), and a sequin.  I loved the way this layering looked with the large stitched pocket full of a Albums Made Easy transparency, sequins, and heart confetti (using the same punch).

And finally!  I had to save the best for last!  Our beloved furry children.  They are our "kids" and such a huge part of our lives, so I had to do a page about them.  If you haven't seen our furries before, they are Murphy (the black bunny on the bottom), Maria (the white bunny on the top), and Cocoa (our Chow Chow).  I added numbers next to all of their photos and, it may seem like they're out of order, but they're really not!  The numbers are in order of when they came into our lives!

On this page, I included a sort-of title: Our Furry Family.  I used one of the Albums Made Easy 4x6 die cut cards that said "FAMILY" and added "Our Furry" using TC Save the Date collection alphabets.  I wanted a sort of big bold title on this page because I wanted it to show HOW MUCH these little ones mean to us!

As soon as I saw the "can't resist such cuteness" journaling card, I knew I had to use it for the photo of our Miss Maria.  I can never get over those ears!!  We always say she is so cute she can melt faces.  Well, can't she?  I added a few flags and sequins for a little bit of a girly look for her!

To add a little bit of a different tone, I mixed in some reds into my page.  I used my typewriter to type my journaling this time, by typing it onto a journaling card and then cutting it into strips.  I stapled some of the strips for a little extra detail and stamped the hearts from the TC Daily Stories stamp set.

Murphy is definitely MY BABY.  I had him for a few years before my hubby and I EVEN lived together and we have a special bond.  So when I saw the "that's my boy" chipboard sticker from the TC He Said, She Said collection, I had to have this on there!  It expressed perfectly how I feel about my little guy.  I also tucked a hexagon (that I traced onto a journaling card, then hand-cut) behind his number for a little extra detail.

Some of the journaling cards and pockets I couldn't help but leaving a bit plain.  I really love having white space and a lot of the journaling cards are so pretty on their own, so it is easy to keep them simple.  Simple but pretty!  I like it!  For the pocket above, I added just one die cut that I popped up and two sequins and that was enough!  As for the other pocket above, I really wanted to include another pocket, but as this is the BACK of the page protector, it doesn't open on this side.  So instead, I created a FAKE POCKET by tracing an envelope flap (from the TC Save the Date collection) onto one of the Albums Made Easy journaling cards, then handcut it out and adhered it to the page protector.  I finished off with one little bling from the TC Save the Date collection.  Now it looks like a pocket even though it isn't!  PERFECT!!!

Well there you have it: my four pages!!!  I am so happy and excited for how they turned out.  I took my time creating them, but they were also quite easy to put together!  The best part about these pages is that I feel as though my love and emotion shines through these pages!  I really loved playing along with the Teresa Collins and We R Memory Keepers Albums Made Easy cards.  I loved that you can use them standing alone (like the quotes, transparencies, die cut cards are all so pretty just by themselves) or you can journal on them and tuck them in, or you can use them to create your own embellishments and details as I did in my pages.

Thank you so much for reading this post!  I am so excited and (of course) will share with you if I hear any news!  I have to give a special shout out to my friends, Jennifer and Heather, for encouraging me to apply and for their inspiration and help.  Love you girls!
