Hello dearies! Can you believe it's been two weeks since our last challenge? I'm starting to look forward to the next two weeks more and more! Not that I want time to move faster, of course. We had four amazing entries for our last challenge, December albums. Super mega congrats to our randomly chosen winner, Amanda!!! Amanda, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send you your $5 Two Peas Gift Card!
For this week's project, Heather and I are getting inspired by the new year by scrapping our goals!! We were both very inspired by this layout by Ali Edwards, as seen in the Winter 2013 issue of Scrapbooking & Cards Today. The new year is the perfect time to think about your intentions for the new year, goals you would like to achieve, or just dream endlessly about what make your heart happy (like me!)
I set resolutions for myself every year. Resolutions is a really loose term though because most of the time, they are just thoughts on how I would like to improve my daily life. If I do it great, if not, then that's okay. But no pressure. I was so inspired by Ali Edwards' use of the word "intentions" and I love that she uses this on her One Little Word (OLW) journey also. (If you have ever taken her OLW class, you know what I'm saying!) So I journaled my 2014 intentions but titled my layout 2014 resolutions. I rarely share word-for-word what my journaling is because most of the time you can just read it off the screen, but today I'm posting it since that's what this is all about:
In 2014, I intend to put me first. I intend to put my husband first. I intend to make my family the top priority. In 2014, I intend to put other people's problems on the back burner. I intend to sympathize without being involved. In 2014, I intend to go with the flow. I intend to KEEP MYSELF IN THE PRESENT and not jump forward. I intend to be healthy for me and my husband. I intend to only exercise to feel good and comfortable in my own skin, and not to be someone I am not. In 2014, I intend to be me and accept myself for who I am. I intend to give love & not let the ugly of the world bring me down. I intend to live with a happy heart. I intend to take days off and allow myself to do nothing. In 2014, I intend to do what makes my soul happy. I intend to have faith in the unknown. I intend to be emotional but also let things go. I intend to be strong and not be scared. In 2014, I intend to be live in the moment and not worry about what the future holds. In 2014, I intend to just be Kelly Jean.
For this layout, I used my December Citrus Twist kit (main only). I'm insanely in love with this kit. The colors and patterns are what I would use EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. if I had endless amounts of money to spend on scrapbooking products. I have been dying to try one of the messy thread piles I have seen popping up all over everyone's projects, so I finally gave it a shot. Not too shabby! To create this, I pulled extra thread out of my sewing machine before and after sewing the corner, then bunched up the strands. I adhered them under other embellishments to keep them in place.
I originally was going to include a photo of just me, but one of my top "intentions" is to put my hubby first. He does so much for me and I would be completely lost without him. So I decided to use this photo of us from last year. Why I love this photo so much I have no idea. My hubby jokes around that I'm always trying to look like a super star and in this photo, I was in mid-stance. I guess he's right. I think he just looks adorable!
The embellishments from the kit were perfect for this layout. I love the wood chip above. (Citrus Twist has their own exclusive wood chips). I've also been using my typewriter LIKE CRAZY that my father-in-law gave me. I'm pretty sure I'm going to run out of ribbon sometime in the next couple months.... (Also, don't mind the bunny hair in this photo. I literally just noticed it!)
Now it's your turn!! Play along with us and scrap your goals! Remember: it doesn't have to be a new project, it can be a project done in the past. Your project does not have to be a layout: it can be a mini album, a home decor, altered project, or art journal! And finally, your project can be about goals, dreams, intentions, aspirations, or resolutions! (It DOES NOT have to be New Years related). Link up your project by Thursday, January 30 at 8PM (C.S.T.) for a chance at a $5 Two Peas gift card!!!! Here's the ways you can link up:
- Add your link to my blog in the comments below.
- Add your link to Heather's blog in her comments section.
- Add your link to our Facebook page!!! (It's new and we worked really hard on it! We hope you'll "like us" on Facebook!)
We also have a new button on the right sidebar that you can add to your blog if you like our challenges! We are excited to bring these challenges to you and thank you all so much for playing along and for your support. Now go check out Heather's beautiful layout featuring her OLW! Can't wait to see what you share!
