An October Sketch Just For You!

Friday, October 11, 2013

It's Friday!!!!!!!!  That deserves lots of exclamation marks!  Let's do our Friday Happy Dance!  Okay, enough of that.  For some, this is also the start of a 3-day weekend.  Sadly, for me, it is not but you all that have a 3-day weekend can enjoy a little extra for me.  On the Practical Scrappers website today, we are sharing the October sketch that is fall/Halloween-themed.  A sketch is perfect to kick your long weekend of scrapping!  And I'm totally digging all of these fall/Halloween-themed projects.

For my layout, I used a new-to-me collection, gifted by my dear friend, Melissa.  It is the Lilybee Designs Autumn Spice collection.  I received it at the perfect time because I was running super low on fall products.  The colors and embellies in this kit are just so lovely!

Products used: background paper, patterned paper, border strips, 'one fall day' embellishment mini alphabet stickers, heart stamp: Lilybee Designs; quote sticker, 'crunching leaves' stickers; October Afternoon; eyelets: Making Memories; leaf and swirl stamps: Unity Stamps; white ink: Versamark; gold spray mist: Ranger; other: ribbon, feather, leaf, flower: craft supply.
The October sketch for this month (see it below), designed by the amazing Liz Chidester, was just amazing.  I loved it and had no trouble at all jump starting and creating this beautiful page.  I really was drawn to the three panels in the middle of the page and it really was so versatile.  The sketch made it so easy to add lots of embellishing to help tell my story.

Every year, I try to make a trip out to Starved Rock in Utica, Illinois.  Fall is definitely the best time to go.  It is sooo beautiful when the leaves start changing and everywhere you look, it is just so breathtaking.  There is miles and miles of paths and canyons for you to explore.  My mother-in-law and I last went a few years ago, which is when I took the above photo.  That photo is actually one wallet size that I printed twice, which came out next to each other.  But after looking at it, you totally couldn't tell that it was two photos, so I thought: why crop it?  I really love the size of it and that it takes center stage.

I hope you get a chance to play along with this sketch!  Or just save it on your computer for use in the future.  If you do use it, make sure you share it on the Practical Scrappers Facebook page.

  1. Love this layout girlie! Fall is absolutely beautiful. I actually do not have any fall-themed scrappy supplies. Weird, right? I think I may have to pick up some because my anniversary is in the fall and I want to make a couple layouts of our picnic in the park!

  2. Love your beautiful page. The feather is a great added touch!
