Hello dearies and happy Friday! (And Happy Friday the 13th! Muah hawh hawh hawh. That's my poor attempt at a spooky laugh.) We're rapidly approaching the time where we start dreaming up holiday card designs. Do you make handmade cards or order photo cards? I always go back-and-forth as to whether I want to hand make cards or just K.I.S.S. and order photo cards. Of course, handmade cards are one million times better than photo cards. Since our Christmas Card list has gone down each year, it makes the decision easier and easier! So, I'll be creating handmade cards this year. I've already been collecting inspiration, sketches, and such to inspire me. Over at Practical Scrappers today, we're sharing a card sketch for September. It was school-themed, but the amazing design made it super easy to create from. Here's the sketch.
I actually created two cards. Right now I am in desperate need of thank you's, general hello's, and thinking of you, and missing you cards. So I've been trying to create cards every opportunity I get. I created two cards using this sketch. Take that mojo!
Card numero uno: The arrows on the sketch immediately reminded me of the banner pennants I had. So I stamped onto a few different patterned papers, then fussy-cut the doily from patterned paper, adhered some patterned paper to the bottom, and stamped a sentiment. I finished it off with some stitching and clear spray mist and then adhered it to my card blank.
Card numero dos: For this card, I thought it would be fun to think outside the box. Again, I was drawn to the arrows in the sketch. I fussy-cut three large circles and added them to the card, then added the strip of brown to the bottom. To repeat the "three," I fussy-cut three squares and added pop dots, then placed them over the brown strip, then added three brads. Finish with a sentiment, some clear spray, and some stitching. Ta da!!!
I'm excited to send these cards out to some amazing friends. If you read my blog, you just might see one of these in your mailbox!! I'll make sure to share any more card inspiration and will definitely share with you once I choose my designs for my holiday cards! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
