Give A Boy A Doughnut... (Ten Things: Doilies)

Hi dearies!  I hope you are enjoying the first few days of fall.  I decided to skip my Snapshots From The Weekend post because I was not feeling well most of the day on Sunday and lots of days last week, so I haven't been taking that many photos lately.  I do hope to get back to it next weekend though!

Today at Practical Scrappers, we are sharing ten ideas for doilies!  Yes, they are pretty and dainty and I make Alex take me to a local restaurant, Southern Belle's, at least once a month because they have THE BEST doilies and I always take all the ones on the table.  (And the last time I was there, the hostess generously gave me tons!!)  All of the doilies I use are from there.  They are just so much better than craft doilies, in my opinion.

I must admit (even though I don't really want to) that I am not the happiest with this layout.  There are things I LOVE about it, like the drops of mist, the doily, the title,  and of course the super cute photos of this little guy.  But this layout was rushed together since I was feeling under the weather and I was on a time crunch and I'm just not the happiest with it.  I originally had several different backgrounds that didn't work out at all and I think the patterned paper kind of clashes.  It doesn't flow properly.

But let me tell you, the doily!!!!!!  I am so ecstatic how this doily turned out.  I purchased watercolor paint for the first time a few weeks and I'm in TOTAL LOVE and want to use it on everything!  For the doily, I simply painted blue and green on the doily, making sure not to get it too wet since it is very thin, and let it dry.  I love how fast watercolor paint dries!  It's amazing!

I may be redoing this layout sometime in the future and if I do, I will make sure to share it with you.  I really just think this layout doesn't make the photos truly shine.  Have you ever struggled with a layout or project you're not the happiest with?

xoxo,
Kelster Jean

  1. Look at that little guy! He's cute! And I'm so in love with doilies! Last month, I stayed at a hotel with my parents and sister the night before we moved her into college. We had room service in the morning. The guy that brought up the breakfast, set up the table very nicely. And there were doilies! Of course, I snatched all of them up. My parents looked at me strangely for just a second, and then they remembered that I'm a scrapper! I, too, have recently fallen in love with watercolors! I found a set at JoAnn for $6 and used my 40% coupon. Score! Also, there are quite a few times I'm not happy with a project. Sometimes, I've tried so many things, but nothing is working out, but you keep trucking through it.
