counting my lucky stars.

(photo from August 2013)
Earlier this week, I received the sweetest message from my hubby in my inbox.  "Keep your head up babe.  We are still doing just fine.  Things are just a lil tight at the moment but its not a long term thing."  It really is amazing, this love that I have.  I count my lucky stars every day for this guy.  When I was a little girl, I used to dream of being married and being happy.  Sure, I also dreamed of being a librarian, a doctor, a vetinarian, and ten other occupations, but I also dreamed of being a wife and a mom.  My parents divorced when I was very young, around 5-years-old, so I never really grew up around an example of an honest, hard-working loving marriage.

I'm not going to lie.  Marriage is not easyIt isn't always the dream that I thought it would be.  Sometimes we bicker over stupid things, like laundry, or bills, or finances (that's really the number one).  Sometimes there is jealousy (like maybe just maybe I was a tad bit jealous that Alex attended his annual overnighter when I couldn't go to the scrapbook retreat I had planned).  And sometimes quite often, life throws you situations that test your relationship, like roof collapses, unexpected injuries, and vehicles breaking down.  But at the end of the day, if you can go to bed and not be angry, that's the best thing.  (One of my former bosses gave me the best advice ever when I got married: learn to compromise!)

Anyways, yeah.  This guy.  He makes me smile and laugh every. single. day.  Just looking at that photo makes me smile.  I don't really know how I got so lucky to have such an amazing person walk into my life, but since he has, he has turned it upside down.  He has given so much more meaning to the words life and love.  I love him to pieces.

  1. I am so happy for you and Alex love! There really is nothing better than having an amazing significant other in your life that is by for side through it all. Marriage is tough, but it's worth it, as you said.
