A big mini album for a sweet boy.

Over the summer, my hubby and I attended a one-year-old birthday for an extra special (and super dang cute) cousin of ours, Joey.  For the baby shower for Baby Joey, I created a photo calendar for his parents to flip through each month of the year.  So I knew for his one-year-old birthday, I just had to follow it up with a little album of his first year here on earth.  I used an older Me & My Big Ideas kit, which was perfect for the album.  Here's the deets:

This album makes {about} 10 albums now that I have done without photos.  Creating albums without photos is pretty challenging: you don't know what the photos will look like or what colors they will have in them, you don't want the page to outshine the photos, you want the photos to "fit" in the album.  When gifting an album, I almost always use 4x6 photo mattes.  For a non-scrapper that may not know all of the different photo sizes out there, 4x6 is the standard and therefore, that is what most people print.

I love to layer and I find that very hard when you are working with no photos.  Some albums are easier than others.  The more I create, the more I am learning to layer without photos.  You can't overlap the photo matte at all.  I have in the past, but the recipient did not realize they could lift up the embellishment to tuck their photo underneath, and therefore just cut the photo around it.  No thank you!  The papers and embellishments in the kit I used were perfect to layer around the photo mattes and give it that extra touch.

Products used: papers, embellishments, and sentiments: Me & My Big Ideas, washi tape (blue dotted): The Plaid Barn, sticker borders (animals, boy, giggle/kisses, baby boy, and trucks): K&Company, camera stamp: The Plaid Barn, other: sewing machine and thread, adhesive, pen, ink, cardboard, binding: Cinch by We R Memory Keepers
