what Memorial Day is really about.

My lil' bro.  Oh so proud of him.  Every.Single.Day.

Today most of us are celebrating a day off.  A day to barbeque, drink beer, hang out with family.  Good food.  Good family.  Good beer.  The American way.  But, we need to remember what this day is truly for.

A day to remember.  To memorialize all of those men and women who fight {and are still fighting} for our country so we can enjoy our days of freedom.  To all of those who have lost a father, mother, son, daughter, aunt, uncle.  Those who were not so lucky to have someone come home to them.  Those who have to visit their loved ones at a gravesite.  Those who are still loving their ones from a distance.  This day is for them and their families.  They are forever loved and thanked for what they do.

This year, we are learning about military life firsthand.  My baby brother has been in the U.S. Army since September of 2012.  He will be leaving for his first deployment mid June.  I'll think about him every day, as I do now, and pray for his safe return.  While I may not be "married to the military," I still always think of those that have to deal with this every day for a long time or even for the rest of their lives.  My heart goes out to you.
