It's Tuesday, dearies, which means today's the day for another round of Ten Things over at Practical Scrappers. You are going to ultra-love what we worked with this week: staples and paperclips! If you're like me and work in an office (or even have an office at home), these things find their way all around the house. I have little stacks of staples and piles of paperclips everywhere. So, while I do have an endless supply, I definitely wanted to think outside the box for this challenge. Then one day, my hubby brought me home some packaging staples from work (warehouses are good for those too). I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but was so happy that he snatched these for me!
Cue the idea for butterflies! I found a gorgeous card by Jane Beljo in Cards July 2011 magazine using felt butterflies and was immediately inspired by it. I don't normally use butterflies on my projects. I love the way they look, but they're just not for me. But, two packaging staples together made the perfect butterfly! I just had to!! So I painted these babies white and adhered them together. Then, I wrapped a little twine around them to form a 'body.' That's it!
I really loved the pairing of the elegant die cut butterflies (cut from my Slice) with the grungy look of the staple butterflies. Definitely outside the norm, but definitely a cool card to send to someone special.
Have you ever used paperclips or staples in your projects? How would you use them? Make sure you hop on over to Practical Scrappers to see the rest of the really cool ideas the girls came up with for staples and paperclips.
