Welcome to the new year!!!
Hello dear readers!! I hope everyone had a fabulous new year and rang in the new year in the greatest way possible. As for me and the hubby, we decided to stay home, cuddle up, and watch some movies. No countdowns. No champagne. No party favors. Just me and my little family. It was the best night ever.
It seems that so many people are excited for 2013. There is something so promising about a fresh start, a fresh new year to get all your hopes and dreams and goals accomplished. Most people set resolutions for the new year of things they would like to happen or accomplish. It's a great way to set a fire under your butt and get going. I'm very, very excited for this new year. The hubby and I have a big year coming up for us: we will be searching for a new home in (or around) May, I am designing for Practical Scrappers for the first half of this year, hubby and I are taking our finances and budgeting to whole new levels, and we are preparing for the future and our future family.
This year, I decided to take on the journey of One Little Word by Ali Edwards. Usually at the beginning of the year, I set goals for myself and what I would like to accomplish or improve on in the year to follow. This year, I decided that this One Little Word journey will be one of my main goals, or accomplishments, rather. Last year was a rough year for me (you can read more about that here). This year for me is all about change. There are so many things in my life that I want to change and improve. There's a lot of things that I dealt with in 2012 that were really not worth it and I don't want it to hold me back or hold back my future and my dreams, and it did. I'm hoping that with taking on this One Little Word journey, it will help me grow as a crafter and as a person, and help me be a better wife, furry mom, friend, and sister. I'm so excited to have a documentation of my journey along the way this year and am looking forward to seeing where my "word" takes me.
My One Little Word for 2013 is GO.
Usually at the beginning of the year, I have so many ideas planned for my blog for 2013. I try lots of new ideas, new blog features, and all kinds of crazy things. But, for 2013, I have absolutely zero new plans for my blog. Well, let's not say that my blog is going to be boring. I definitely don't think that. But, this year, I want to share and inspire. I didn't want to schedule and introduce all of these new blog features that, in the end, went nowhere. (Because, let's face it, sometimes I just don't have the time to keep up on regularly-scheduled or regularly-planned posts). So, that being said, for now at least, I just plan to try and post every three or four days, and just share whatever. My blog has never been a strictly-scrapping blog, and I intend to keep it that way. I share my daily life, what inspires me, and so much more. I hope you will continue to read and appreciate that.

One of my goals this year is to improve my photography skills. I love taking photographs. I can take one million photographs and never be satisfied. So, at the very beginning of this year, I dusted off my Nikon D50 User Guide (thanks Kristy!) and am reading it cover to cover to improve my skills and to learn more about my camera. I really should have done this months and months ago, and didn't. But, I'm going to now. I hope that by the end of the year, I know at least one more thing that I didn't know about my camera.
I received the 365 Days of Scrapbooking book as a Christmas gift from a dear friend and the 2013 Scrapbook and Cards Today calendar from my dear sister. Together, I have decided to create an album featuring one event or a collage of each month's events for 2013. I will create and share one layout per month (most likely towards the end of the month or at the beginning of the following month) that features 1) an idea from the book 2) the month's sketch from the calendar and 3) an event (or events) that happened that month. I actually cannot take any credit whatsoever for this idea as it was totally my husband's idea (yep, he's a crafter of some sorts. I'm so lucky.) I'm really excited to see how this turns out and if it turns out well, and I can keep up, I may do this every year. I really love the idea of Project Life, but don't have time to keep up on it, so I'm hoping that this will be a great Project Life-type project that is consistent with the available time I have.
And I guess that is all for 2013 (seems like quite a bit to me huh?) I may introduce more goals as the year goes on (it's never too late, right?) but I'm very excited to see where these take me. Did you set goals or resolutions for 2013? If so, please feel free to share in the comments below.
