Ten Things you can do with Felt

I am so excited to share with you all the first post for my Design Team, which went live yesterday morning!!!  (Just in case you missed it, here is my announcement when I found out I would be designing for Practical Scrappers).  Our first challenge was to use felt on a project.  Yep, felt.  Felt that is sometimes scratchy, but sometimes soft, but comes in like a million colors and is super cheap!  (I've only used felt one time and it was to make elf hats for a Christmas decorating contest at work.)  So, this first challenge was definitely, well, a challenge for meAt first, I had no idea what I was going to create, then hubby graciously reminded me that I had some banner-shaped page protectors leftover from when I designed for my local scrapbook store.  Perfect!!!

Products used: patterned paper, ruler, paper strips, tags, and journaling spots: Authentique's Blissful Collection, felt: Joann's, volleyball stickers: Reminisce; 'friends' die cut: Slice (Parties! cartridge); banner page protector: Page Extensions by Creek Bank Creations; other: needle and thread, black pen, adhesive, pop dots, white cardstock, grey ink.

I was very surprised at how quickly this layout and page protector came together.  Once I started going, I was on a roll and there was no stopping me!  The banner page protector (the link to where you can purchase these is above) is really simple to use.  You really just have to trace the shape onto whatever it is you are creating, design your 'page,' then slip it into the page protector and adhere it to the side or top of the page protector your layout will be in.  That's it!!  It's super simple.  I also shared the link (above) for Authentique's Blissful Collection.  I am so so in love with the colors of this collection.  I mean, seriously, the goldest-of-golds yellows and grey?  Genius!!!  Finally, I purchased my felt at Joann's and I purchased 2 8 1/2x11 sheets.  I believe the price for each sheet was about 60 cents.  That's it!  It is very reasonably priced so, if you're looking for a change of pace, definitely try using felt on your next project.

Hop on over to Practical Scrappers to check out what the rest of the Design Team created using felt.  There are lots of cool ideas.

xoxo,

Kelster Jean
