Christmas Cards 2012: Recipe Cards

Sometimes, after making so many Christmas cards in a row, you begin to lose your mojo.  That was me after about 20 or so.  After about number 5, I can't make the same exact card over and over again, so I like to change it up alot.  But, that's a great way to use up your ideas super quick.  So, the best thing for me to do was to turn to challenges.  Challenges are a great way to get the juices flowing, as most of the thought work is put right in front of you.  It's like someone is telling you what to do and you just obey, because you know in the end, it'll lead to something great!

Card measures 6 1/2 x 5.  Products used: kraft paper: Recollections; cardstock; snowflake punch: EK Success; stamps (penguins, hills, and fencing): Unity; snowflake stickers: received in a swap; ribbon: received in a swap; other: glitter glue, color pencils, black ink.

This card was created several weeks ago for a recipe challenge at Club CK.  In case you aren't aware, a recipe challenge is where you are issued a "recipe" of things you can use on your card, layout, or altered project.  Sometimes you get to choose what you want to use from the "recipe" and other times, you have to use everything on the list.  For this recipe challenge, you had to choose at least 6 from the following options:
  • only cardstock (no patterned paper);
  • ribbon;
  • at least one punch;
  • embossing-dry embossing or heat embossing;
  • stickers;
  • pop dots for dimension;
  •  at least one rubber stamp;
  • rubber ink stamp;
  • confetti
and for this card, I used (7 things)
  • only cardstock (no patterned paper);
  • ribbon;
  • at least one punch;
  • stickers;
  • pop dots for dimension;
  • at least one rubber stamp;
  • rubber ink stamp;
Recipe challenges are a great way to use up some of your stash, especially if you're like me and hoard tons of things because they are so cute or pretty you don't want to use them.  You should try it sometime!

PS: Did you know I am pretty obsessed with penguins?  When I purchased this stamp set on Craig's list, I was ecstatic!  Literally jumped for joy!
